Jaron & Ellie
03:13
|
|||
Jaron wrote her a note and left it on her pillow
Ellie found it that night and gazed outside her window
Then she watched for his bike and wandered dow nto her sink
Oh, but did she love him. Ellie smiled and started to think
Jaron, I think it'll be alright if we just
hold hands straight on through the night
But while you reach the top, our love will have to stop
And Jaron, I think it'll be alright if we just
hold on 'til that morning light
But then you're off to school, while love will treat us cruel
Jaron rode up real fast to see if she had read it
Ellie stood at the door. The smile she gave said it
Jaron and Ellie talked 'til almost three that morning
Jaron said: I love you. Ellie smiled and started to sing
And he said: Elle, remember when we snuck into your father's den?
I leaned in for a simple kiss, but you ducked out and grabbed a pen
You took my arm and wrote a phrase that I'll remember through cold days
It said: we'll never end 'cause you are my best friend
Jaron woke up at last and saw their hands were holding
He tuned up the guitar and saw their love unfolding
Ellie woke up at once and heard the boy play her song
Hey Jaron, I love you, Ellie said and joined right along

Yes, it's true that you and I were never meant to be
I'm black; you're blue. I wish you knew how much I want to leave
You see, I'm lost and taken from my home
You've split me up adrift amidst the foam
So yes, it's true that you and I were simply never meant to be
Yes, it's true that you and I were never meat to be
I sigh on cue as you reveal my insecurities
So pure and true, you're following the moon
I follow through, but drift ashore too soon
So yes, it's true that you and I were simply never meant to be
Who knows why the world is full of lipophobes?
And who am I to tell them that they're not alone?
Yes it's true, that you and I were never meant to be
I bid adieu. Just know there isn't much that's left of me
And when I'm gone, how bitter sweet and end
'cause you'll have to learn to live without this friend
So yes, it's true that really I am not to blame for all you see
'cause you and I were simply never meant to be

The Fourth

Since it's summer, here's a letter
Rewrote it two or three times for the better
'cause I'm broken and you stole my missing parts
once these bright lights leave this dark sky
and you drive home from this park for the last time
You should read it just to see if I am your man
'Cause I see those blue jeans that you wear are fading
Will you wear them proud or buy a newer pair?
Just know the lighter the blue, the color is still true
I don't know where we're going but baby I fear
we'll find out once we get there we're sitting right here
And so right here in the bathroom
of the hotel where you said that you love me
I will finally try to say that I love you
See, I'm not sure, but I will say
our time is now and I'll risk love for love's sake
at least for one day, then you're gone while I'm here to stay
When I tell you that I love you, know I mean it
When the words grow stale and gray as hope slips away
Just know the lighter the hue the color is still true
Never know where we're going, but baby I fear
we'll find out once we get there we're sitting right here

The Fifth

To the USA: happy birthday
Let's wave a flag and have a parade
All the children sing happy birthday
this grand foreplay has right of way
And so right here in the bedroom
of the hotel where you said that you love me
I will finally try to say that I love you
See I'm not sure, but I will say
that our time is now and I'll risk love for love's sake,
at least for one day. Then you're gone while I'm here to stay
And in the bedroom when we were frightened
when all of the Japanese beetles were biting
I'll protect you 'cause that's all that I know to do
But when the Sun comes in the morning and
I wake to see that you left without warning
'cause you're not sure, I will know this grand foreplay has right of way

Save Me
03:02
|
|||
I was standing in the snow and I whispered: take me home
Won't you fly down from what you used to know?
You were beauty, pure and true and you whispered: who are you?
It's a long way down for someone I never knew
Save me
I cannot go on without this royal we
I've been running in the dark with my eyes shut to the stars
'cause the Sun shines bright, you know how bright you are
If you're worried, knows it's me and if I come back, let it be
It's your photospheric shine that would not let me see

Sassy
01:52
|

That girl is on tilt with the world
she will watch us as we twirl
she speaks of her life on the street
with a tone so sweet you can't compete
And then she looks at you,
her eyes so dear and true,
she simply must know
what she has done to you
and the she walks away
just like another day
she's gone unto her love,
but then he will say:
Well I am so glad to be out of here,
but all the fresh air, it makes my eyes tear
I breathe in deep and let it settle down,
but then realize I'm wearing a big frown
You stop, look at me, and suddenly go
But I'm here, I'm screaming: oh, no
You then turn and blow me a big kiss
I wish you best with your life as a waitress
And so the better man has won
justice did prevail
but, Johnny-boy did nothing wrong
nothing to cruel
He waged no war;
challenged no duel,
but then she went and found
another single tell

Dreams of the Dreamer
03:07
|
|||
Staying up here on this Sycamore tree
I'll never come down, 'cause down there I'm not free
See, the birds sing me lullabies and we do believe
that the dreams of you dreamers might sit and count sheep,
but the dreams of this dreamer compose in my sleep
Brush on the bark and ask if I'll come down
Loosen your jaw and release from the ground
Take a breath and you'll notice that it's you here with me
as the dreams of you dreamers still sit and count sheep
Let the dreams of this dreamer compose in my sleep
Is it me or your direction that's small?
Does the straight line let you see at all?
I can try, but I do not know the fault
Don't you see me? For once I am tall
And yes, I'm afraid that some day I might fall
and break all my bones, reduced to a crawl
But when I fall, I'm sure the ground will lack your debris
Will the dreams of you dreamers still sit and count sheep?
'Cause the dreams of this dreamer, they never quite sleep

It's Not You
05:10
|
|||
It is all right said the young man and kissed his sweetheart goodnight
Though they both knew that it was not, they kept their chins up,
they wouldn’t show their fight
For the week ahead would prove that they could not have lasted, ‘cause she left him hung out to dry in the rain
Had he known this was their last kiss, he’d have said something worth her sweet time
But, she said that this must end, for reasons we both see you can’t be mine
For the week ahead would prove that they could not have lasted, ‘cause she left him hung out to dry in the rain
But, that boy he saved his last words, for his sweetheart had found another man
Until he could not sustain it, he called her and said his last words and ran
Remember that you’re beautiful, but remember me when you go
It’s not you who’s the lucky one, it’s that one you adore
Remember with him life is happy again, but remember to take life slow
It’s not you who’s the lucky one it’s the one you adore
And I’m still here in the rain
Let me in so I can dry, maybe it would relieve the pain
For the week ahead would prove that they could not have lasted, ‘cause she left him hung out to dry in the rain
So, that young boy he recovered separate, not in demand
And then that little girl, she called him crying asking for him to take her hand
He said: I have walked inside from the rain I have come in and I have dried
I no longer need you, sweetheart the pain it did subside
I was unsure of life on my own, but now I have seen the light
It’s not you who I should be waiting for, it’s my own piece of mind
But, it’s all right said the young man and kissed his sweetheart goodnight

Alleyways
03:21
|
|||
Have you by chance seen my friends around?
They are a monkey and a man with a cape
They found me lost and they made me found,
but I am not sure they are quite my shape
Can we sit and have a couple drinks?
I have some questions about identity
My thoughts seem lost and quite out of sync,
I am a stranger to this newfound me.
Now when you walk through the alleyways
do you see all the secret doors?
Do you feel the sound of none around as it vibrates through the floor?
And when you walk through the alleyways
does the light caress your mind?
When you take a seat do you feel the beat as you memories leave you blind?
Here’s a story for you bright and true about a man who sailed away on a ship
He started fresh and ventured ocean blue, but the an iceberg ran him through with its tip
The boat went down and thus he met the sea, where all alone he simply floated away
If only God could change what made him be, then he could fit in with the fish and play
And now I can tell that I’m bothering you
‘cause you asked me who I thought I was
Well, I went off to school to find that surefire clue,
but instead I found that I got lost
I threw myself away and I started from scratch,
but I find as I rebuild the frame
that I am simply made of my own special batch
because the person that I rebuild is quite the same
But, now I'll walk through the alleyways and I'll see all the secret doors
I will feel the sound of all around as it strengthens rich and poor
and when I walk through the alleyways every light will touch my mind
and I'll take a seat 'cause I feel the beat of the love that leaves us blind

Train of Thought
14:08
|
|||
My train of thought is headed north, but I am here to stay
I feel the quiet setting in amidst this Autumn day
No stress or worries stay me with me, they chug off in the Sun
But now I fear without my thoughts, my brain has lost its fun
So I sit and I try just to scoop my brain out,
but a friend stops me flat with a deafening shout
He says: Dear Billy, you need that to count the burning stars
and sing about it with your friends while playing your guitar
So now I'm off to chase it down, this roguish train of thought
I'll let you know with my next song if it was ever caught
